Strong, one of the better thrillers to come along last year. One of those rare movies where you really root for the bad guy, who is really a good guy. Just like in the film Taken, you understand the revenge of the character and identify with his pain. Sort of evil genius, and, loving father who has been wronged by the system, Now has one singular vision to make everyone involved pay with their lives. You cant go wrong with Gerard Butler and Jaime Foxx facing off either.

Clyde Shelton – Gerard Butler is the victim of a horrible home invasion
where his daughter and wife are raped and murdered while he watches helplessly tied up on the floor. The two men responsible are caught but, the prosecutors use one to testify against the other to get the death penalty. It makes Nick Rice – Jamie Foxx look good and keep up his conviction rate high while he aspires to higher office. The problem is, the system doesn’t serve justice as it should, and just do whats right. Well, Clyde just happens to be an inventive tinkerer with years to spend planning his revenge. Clyde finally gets to exact his revenge on the real man responsible for his families death and does to him what he deserves. Soon, Clyde is arrested for the gruesome murder and once they lock him up, the killing spree really gets started, and even behind bars, everyone who was involved is now in danger.

Gory in some parts, but not excessive. Acting is top notch all the way through, even the supporting cast is really good. An all around good thriller for most everyone. Check it out, it’s what-to-watch.

What are we really looking for in a zombie movie? Blood and guts with a little suspense thrown in right? Ok, The Norwegians have managed to make a really good and gory zombie flick that’s well worth watching. It seems like under the radar gems these days are coming from other countries. I think the days of this kind of gore and complete disregard for the politically correct rules are over in American cinema. A small warning for the younger crowd, this is an absolute, complete gore fest and wont sit well for those who don’t like blood.

It starts just as most zombie or slasher films do. A group of young adults headed to some remote location for a weekend of fun, sex and whatever, but this little snowy retreat holds a deep dark secret. During world war II, a Nazi squad sent to hold the town for strategic reasons but ended up torturing its villagers until they revolted. they chased the Nazis out of the town and in to the mountains. The problem is, they never left, and now the mountain is an evil place where unspeakable things happen and people are warned not to go anywhere near.

Its just good gory fun. Sometimes funny, sometimes shocking violence, but it is really quite good for a foreign zombie movie. Enjoy it if you dare.

I always thought this book would make better movie than the DaVinci Code, just because there was more action and suspense. The murders were pretty gruesome, and, you don’t have to sit through the history lesson. Where it was obviously impossible to squeeze all the information and detail contained in the DaVinci Code in to a 2 hour or even a 4 hour movie, Angels and Demons fits that movie mold much better. That being said, some how, Ron Howard just cant seem to make these books into blockbusters, as much as everyone wishes they would be (myself included). The movie is good, better than DaVinci Code easily, but there is just something missing. I don’t know what it is (maybe it’s just me).

Robert Langdon – Tom Hanks is once again called in to solve a crime. During the conclave, the process where Catholic cardinals gather in Rome to elect a new Pope, someone has abducted four of the members and is threatening to kill them (one each hour) until the final act, the destruction of Vatican City itself. Religion and science collide once again as Langdon must decipher the clues and rescue the cardinals with the help of a pretty young Italian scientist Vittoria Vetra – Ayelet Zurer, while he tries find the mole within the Vatican, all the while being hindered and obstructed by the ones he’s trying to help. A race against the clock thriller with a pretty spectacular twist ending.

All in all the movie is good, I just wanted great. Ron Howard, Tom Hanks, good book, come on. I want great. So here’s the question, is it What-to-Watch?…Absolutely, Yes it is, better than most of the movies this year, enjoy.

We all know why anyone would bother to watch this movie. Megan Fox. Either you liked her in the two Transformers movies or, you’re a guy. The worlds hottest chick finally gets a movie of her own. Too bad the movie isn’t any good. A high school horror flick minus the horror. It does showcase how cute Fox is, and even gives her a chance to show some acting skills, but the film is meaningless. Poor story, too many campy film cliche’s, and to top it all off, no skin.

Jennifer – Megan Fox is a high school girl in the small town of Devils Kettle. During a concert for some unknown underground band gone wrong, Jennifer seems to sort of go willingly with the band (and we all know she shouldn’t) She shows up later that night at her friends Needy – Amanda Seyfried’s house covered in blood and sick as hell. The next day she’s shows up to school like nothing happened and she’s now hot as ever, flirting with every boy around. Needy soon starts to discover that Jennifer has changed, and needs to feed on young boys to stay healthy. Once she finds out what Jennifer has become, she must figure out how stop her before she devours Needy’s boyfriend and the whole town.

Like I said, meaningless. the movie goes nowhere, does nothing, but looks pretty doing so, If it wasn’t for Megan Fox, this movie would fall into the What-not-to-Watch bin. Only watch this one if you have to.

Aaaahhhh the good old days. Sam Raimi returns to his glorious days of shock horror. Just about everyone remembers the Evil Dead series and what it did for the horror genre. Raimi shocked and scarred us all with a little bit of humor thrown in at the right time. It’s good to see that he didn’t get totally consumed by the great Spiderman films. Sam delivers a wild tale of a poor young girls struggle not be taken over by a dark curse and literally dragged to hell.

Christine Brown is longing for the assistant manager position at her bank. Her manager explains to her that the position will go to the employee who can make the touch decisions when it comes to bank business. Christine must soon help an old woman who is begging for help not to loose her home. Just about the scariest old crusty Gypsy grandma you have ever seen. Well, Christine makes the decision that’s best for her career, and the bank. When Mrs. Ganush begins to get feisty, Christine has the old woman thrown out of the bank. Feeling disrespected and embarrassed Mrs Ganush places a curse on the young girl and damns her to hell. Christine, along with her boyfriend Clay, now must figure out what the curse is, and how to stop it.

Classic Sam Raimi. Showing only whats needed to spook you. Some of the best gross out moments in recent movie history. Raimi still has the gift to make a good scary movie that in some parts can make you laugh and still be completely disgusting. not to heavy or gory for the younger crowd and not to corny for older crowd. Good balance and pretty good acting as well. It is What-to-Watch.

All in all it’s a pretty good old fashioned haunted house movie. Not heavy on the special effects, which is a nice change, pretty spooky, not too much revealed in the beginning like most others do (remember less is more). Not to bloody, so the kids can still be scared. It’s a lighter version of Amityville Horror.

Matt’s mother, desperate to find a house closer to the hospital where her son is going through experimental cancer treatments takes the to good to be true bargain of a house with a little “history”. The film is based on the true story of funeral home where the corpse’s were defiled and used for seances. Years later the Campbell family moves in on whim and spooky things start happening. The family tries to learn the history and deal with the disgruntled ghosts. Nothing to heavy, the younger the viewers get, the scarier it will be. There are better haunted house movies, but, there are plenty of worse ones also. The acting is pretty good by Virginia Madsen and the rest of the cast. Not a bad Saturday night on the couch.

OK… it just doesn’t get any worse than this. Quite possibly the worst movie this year. Granted, I haven’t seen every film released this year, and I’m sure there will plenty more that are just junk, but there just couldn’t be anything as horrible as this. OK, maybe Dragon-ball Evolution or Street Fighter the legend of Chun Li.

Another 80’s horror remake, but this time in 3D! The story of a man who has a bad day one February 14Th so he decides to turn into a serial killer. Wearing a miners outfit, mask, and armed with a pick-axe he really hates Valentines day, and for some reason, all young people that go near the mine. Bad acting (really bad), stupid story, campy dialog, and every horror cliche in the book. Not only did they not do the original film any justice, but they stole other movie parts and themes (such as High Tension). For a slasher film (if that’s your cup of tea) even the gore isn’t very good, overdone and just plain corny. Sure they’ll try and twist it up in the end to throw you off and make it seem interesting, but it just adds to the disaster. Please, please, please do not watch this movie. Not even its for free.

Another 80’s remake that should have been left alone. Hollywood is set to remake just about every 80’s horror movie including A Nightmare On Elm St. I will be reviewing My Bloody Valentine soon, and I didn’t even bother with Prom Night.

OK, you would think, with today’s technologies in film making and all the slasher films in the past to learn from, including the 10 sequels of Friday The 13th, they would get it right.

The entire cast is unknown, as well they should be, the first group of youngsters slaughtered very quickly, but not in any new or imaginative way, then here comes the second group, just served right up. searching for a legendary hidden field of marijuana the teen and 20 somethings are killed one by one as they venture in to Camp Crystal Lake. Here’s my problem with this movie, this is supposed to be the new improved version, the get it right version, Keep all the stuff that worked and improve on the things that didn’t. Well they didn’t. They did the same movie with more skin, more language, more sex, but not of more of what we want. Great kills. Jason has never been less brutal. You would always what crazy way is he going to kill the next naked cutie. What do we get? The same old machete slice and dice (even more than the original). There a few minor changes from the original version, but, one thing remains the same, no matter how far and fast you run, Jason is always right there. Your better off watching the 80’s version, much scarier, much bloodier, and all around just better.

Nicholas Cage stars in this end of the world sci-fi thriller that’s actually pretty good. Very spooky and suspenseful. I enjoyed the build up. Even if the ending wasn’t what I expected. It was still better than average.

John’s daughter receives a page of artwork from a grade school time capsule 50 years old, the little girl who made the page was a little strange. All it has is a series of numbers front and back. As John and small group of people soon discover that the numbers are in the order off all the major disasters the have happened over the last 50 years, things really get freaky. With the numbers ending soon, John must figure out whats going to happen and why. He must try and unravel the mystery of the code and save his daughter from the strange beings appearing around them. Its a race against time and possibly the end of the world.

Nicholas Cages’ acting is par for the course and everyone else in the film is adequate. Although the movie isn’t too scary for youngsters, the disaster scenes are incredibly real and extremely gory and the special effects are up to today’s standards. Its a good Saturday night movie.

Its tough to come up with something fresh, or even something different, and although this film falls into the genre of “SAW” (very bad movie) or “SEVEN” (very good movie) it’s still pretty good. It manages to make a movie about the Internet that’s not only scary and suspenseful but could be true. No viruses that come out of the screen or programs that kill there users. It has a very simple premise. People are curious and like to watch (what could go wrong?) In my opinion, the methods used to kill in this movie are far better more realistic that “SAW” and all its dumb sequels, and because of that it makes it much more violent and scary.

Jennifer Marsh (Diane Lane) is part the FBI cyber crimes unit in Portland Oregon. Until this movie Marsh and her team have been tracking down child predators and credit card scammers when they come across a live video feed of kitten being tortured. Marsh cant isolate the signal and must watch helplessly (like everyone else) as the kitten dies a slow painful death. The mastermind uses the number of log-ins to the site to determine how fast the kitten is killed. When the site comes up next time with a real person being tortured according to how many viewers has logged in that’s when the movie really takes off. Marsh and her crew must now find the killer and stop him before his victims are killed but are helpless to stop the rising tide of viewers who want the subjects to die. Each torture device more painful and gruesome than the last. For anyone who likes “youtube” and video chat rooms, here’s one for you. Good pace, and some interesting plot twists keep you guessing and the movie totally believable. A good Friday night thriller.

Plot: Better than average. Very believable story and situations. The plot moves along very well and makes you wonder what the next act will bring. Well directed with the right amount of gore and scare without making it a blood bath movie.

Acting: Better than average. Diane Lane give a good solid performance as well as the supporting cast. Owen Riley (Joseph Cross) makes very good bad guy, creepy and smart, very unassuming boy next door type.

Final Word: A really good thriller. Smart, scary, you could do a lot worse. This film is What-to-Watch for sure.
