Iron Man

In my humble opinion, Iron man is the best superhero movie to date. Yes, better than Batman, as a superhero movie. Batman was a better drama, bigger, scarier, and more dramatic. But for pure superhero stuff and the fun that goes along with it. Iron man beats Batman in all the genre categories. Special effects, comedy, and superhero action. And let us not forget, it’s fresh and new. Not a retread or a do over. The film is true to the comic and fans of Iron man will love it. It also stands alone as well, even if you have never heard of Iron man, the movie is great. Excellent casting and story line to go along with first class special effects and acting. Robert Downey Jr. leads an all star cast including, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Terrance Howard. One of the best movies of the summer by far.
Plot: The plot is not the exact origin of Iron man, it’s been adjusted for modern times. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is a playboy billionaire who runs his fathers defense contractor mega corporation and is almost the sole weapons provider to the worlds military. He doesn’t care what his weapons are used for or who has them. He just does rich people stuff, parties, sleeps around, spends money, not a care in the world. But, at weapons demonstration for his latest missile, Tony Stark is taken hostage by terrorist group. They want Tony to build the new missile system for them to use as they see fit, evil. Tony decides to build something else while in captivity, a suit of armor, and that’s when the movie really takes off.
Acting: The acting is excellent. Everyone is superb. Robert Downey Jr. is perfect as Tony Stark. Terrance Howard, Jeff Bridges, and Gwenth Paltrow never disapoint. There a very few flaws of the performances in this movie.
Special Effects: Top notch! The effects are great, very believable, not over the top and unrealistic. the action is strong but not violent. Iron man is really the best all around superhero movie so far.
Final Word: While I give my props to the Batman phenomenon, I think it misses the one thing that comic book and superhero movies are all about, The whole family. You can’t really take a young child to see Batman. Iron man on the other hand works for everyone, young, old, men, women. It really is the best comic book movie so far and it’s at the top of the list when it comes to What-to-Watch. don’t miss it.
