Monsters Vs. Aliens

Very good, but not spectacular. Monsters Vs. Aliens is sort of a cross between Monsters Inc. and War of the Worlds. A group of old time monsters team up to battle an alien determined to destroy the world. Funny at times and just amusing at other times, the movie was going for a home run, but just missed, barley.
Susan – Reese Witherspoon is about to marry some TV weatherman when the wedding is interrupted by an asteroid. When Susan is exposed to is contents. she begins to grow. She gets so tall that she is captured by the government and sent to freak prison, forever. There she meets other oddities like her. Now named Ginormica, Susan tries to adjust to her new life. Soon, the Earth destroying alien arrives, and when the humans are powerless to stop it, they send the misfit group of prisoner monsters out to save the world.
The cast of monster voices are great. Seth Rogen, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, and Kiefer Sutherland as Gen. W.R. Monger are very funny and entertaining. The movie centers mostly on Susan, so the other monsters kind of take a back seat. The animation is top notch. it’s a good movie night, especially for the kids.
