Interesting that you found Kristen Stewart's performance to be one of the movie's highlights - I think it was one of its downfalls. I liked her performance as Bella much more in Twilight... in New Moon she fell short on the emotional turmoil that is conveyed in the book. Bella is beyond devastated when Edward leaves her. The book portrays the scene in the woods (when he dumps her) in a much more powerful and heart wrenching way. Kristen didn't do that scene justice by whining and curling up in a ball - I wanted full tears and extreme pain! I have to say though, Taylor Lautner shined in New Moon. He made me like Jacob much more than I did in the book. :) Great review!
