Watchmen

Where do I start. The very very hyped (“you’ve never seen a superhero movie like this before”) masterpiece from the director of “300″. Rated R for nudity and violence. It was supposed to be the next best thing. It wasn’t. Set in an alternate 1980′s where Nixon is in his 4th term as President, it’s sort of an anti superhero movie. First, we like our hero’s to have a few flaws. These guys are a mess, many, many flaws. 2nd they really aren’t super. they are sort of meta-humans. just a little stronger than regular humans except for one (Dr. Manhattan) who is super-super human. 3rd its long, slow and anti climactic.
The film is about a group of hero’s called the Watchmen. They are being murdered one by one by some unknown killer targeting just them. The group needs to figure out who is doing the killings and why. While also dealing with their own personal problems and if that wasn’t enough, there is also the growing nuclear war tension between the United States and Russia. The acting is good but the gore is brutal and excessive. There is too much sex for kids to watch and not enough of anything else for adults to like. It has some pretty good effects, nothing special, and effects don’t make a movie anymore. I felt like this was a waste of two and a half hours. It wasn’t for me.
